Working by yourself is challenging in many ways. There is little or no financial security, you have to keep fighting procrastinating thoughts, search for inspiration within four walls, and keep stretching your body, from all the aches and pains of sitting in front of your computer for most of the day.
But being a creative person you have to find a solution for these little obstacles so I thought I would share what keeps me going throughout the day, week and months!
I love working with music in the background and usually if its a fun and productive day, it will be something really happy and loud. On my less better days, it will be something so depressing to listen to that I'll just cry. Yes...its that easy for me to cry.
But this is not productive and I realized its actually something that prevents me from being who I really am. During the days, where confusion, uncertainty and self-doubt rage in, are actually the days that prevent me from getting better. Instead of moving forward I'm taking a step back. Ok, some days are shitty but how do you get out of this rut?
Well I usually listen to interviews, documentaries and TEDX Talks on YouTube. I find this so incredibly useful. It takes me away from my little bubble of reality and expands my mind from convictions or beliefs. When the mind is in auto-pilot mode, its hard to take notice what you're actually doing to yourself. You don't have to listen to every voice that pops in your head. You just have to find the real one, and just listen to that one.
So here I'll share an inspiring TedX Talk I saw recently, that got me thinking. I hope it gets you thinking too.
